Taking Action To Protect our Rights

Photos of Raul Colon Web Developer Puerto Rico

For the past few days I thought I was supporting SOPA by creating awareness and sharing information. I have to agree with this post on how just by changing your avatar in your social profiles (like I did) or blacking out your site (I did not do) you are really not inspiring change.

Awareness is still Important

I also still believe creating awareness makes more people unite towards a common interest so just because you are taking more action does not mean you can’t create and upload your avatar letting others know how you feel.

I Hope Sopa Passes Post

A post written creating awareness on the part to execute and actually take action where these companies supporting SOPA will get impacted. I do believe the author made some great points as towards what we need to do to stop SOPA and approaching other efforts towards protecting our rights.

Although the list on the website was not accurate of the Current Sopa Supporters which I have listed below but for a more updated list visit Wikipedia, I also want to thank @scottmonty from Ford who was more than happy to point me the right direction towards identifying where the possible list the author of the I Hope SOPA Passes post used to create his list.

If more companies had someone like Scott on-board the world would be a better place.

Taking Action…

The author of the post requests us to take action by asking the following questions.

Would you be willing to:

1. Take time off work to go down to Washington DC?

2. Boycott companies that supported it?

He tells us to at least boycott two or three companies (or as many as you like) since there are many.

3. Knock on this Lamar Smith’s (R-TX) door and ask him why he introduced such shitty legislation?

4. Make sure none of these losers get elected ever again? My suggestions send them a tweet or email them.

Some of my Suggestions

Go to the list below and drop them an email, tweet, them or write on their facebook walls on why you will not support companies supporting SOPA. I will do so myself, I see ABC again as a company which is a repeat offender in my blog since just a few weeks ago they offended the Puerto Rican Community and we have not received an apology yet.

So follow my feed on twitter during the next few days I will be tweeting and emailing companies that are on the list trying to get an answer why the support SOPA. I ask you to the same.

Go Daddy, Nintendo, and a few others (see Wikipedia list) pulled back their support when they started loosing customers and realized the possible impact it might have on their companies.

Every company you choose I will make sure I contact them also.

Let’s continue to move forward by taking action against this attempt to silence us.

1 Company (Nike) I Will Boycott

Out of the list of companies I can only identify one that I support by buying theirs product. I pretty much have ignored and boycotted the others on the list since I don’t watch much TV and we all know how I feel about ABC lack of being responsive when it comes to insulting Puerto Ricans  (which also includes Disney, ESPN, and a few other companies under the same umbrella).  Out of the list of companies I really can only identify one which I am use to buying their product

  1. Nike – Since I have been running and trying to get back in shape I have bought a few Nike Items. I guess that now I will make sure to stick with other brands.

Can you identify any companies you support by buying or consuming their products on the list?
