Listening to Chris Brogan’s advice landed me a Sweet Deal

November 18, 2014 by Raul Colon

raulcolon-puertorico-blog-1-70 Listening to Chris Brogan's advice landed me a Sweet Deal

I have been building projects and business for over 20 years.  For a bit over 12 years I have been helping others with setting up businesses or getting them ready to build one.

Although I have years of experience building my own projects I do a better job at helping other with their project.

So one person I go to for help is my buddy Chris Brogan and when he has an event or webinar I make sure I don’t miss it.

Lots of Value in Each Event

Chris usually shares a lot of knowledge that can be found accessed for free on his blog.

When Chris decides to charge for something I can guarantee you will get lots of value from it.

Last week I was able to solve a major issue in my business thanks to some knowledge I acquired on a webinar by Chris Brogan.

While listening to  Chris Brogan’s  webinar “Get Back on the Path” he mentioned the importance of following back.

I realized on occasions I might give up on a lead because they have not replied back. Chris mentioned how we have to offer our services continuously and increase the opportunity for us to close a sale.

Applying what I learned

I have continued following up with those who in the past I would have given up on. As a result of that I was able to either get a no or a specific date to follow up again.

The Benefits of Chris Brogan’s Webinars

Most importantly i also landed a pretty sweet deal with a one of our favorite clients thanks to that follow up.

The knowledge I gained on the last two webinars I listened from Chris will help us during what I consider my low season.

Even Though I have worked with Chris in the past and he is only an email away from any question I have.

I always learn and get hassle free advice I can apply when I watch him speak either in a live event or via a webinar.

Today, Chris is offering a webinar where he will share knowledge on how to plan for Success.

I am going to be joining him get some great insight from someone who equips owners and has been a strong business mentor of mine.

So please enroll for tomorrow’s webinar.

Will you join us?

Sharing My Stories

June 10, 2012 by Raul Colon

IMG_4056 Sharing My Stories

Telling our story is something we all do in different forms. I recently found out that I was capturing my story in different ways but limiting myself in sharing it.

I created a website and made it into a virtual yearbook for my senior class. This was before having platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Blogger, WordPress and the many other that allow you to easily sign up and share your experiences with the online world. As time goes by, it becomes easier to share your story via pictures, video, and writing.

Sharing the Story Via Digital Photography

Before digital cameras, I remember taking pictures with my Advantix camera.

This was a long process and here are some steps I remember:

  1. Buy film for the camera
  2. Choose my pictures wisely (each roll had a limited amount of pictures)
  3. Drop the pictures to get developed
  4. Pick up the pictures
  5. Scan them (making sure I only touched the edges)
  6. Adjust them
  7. Upload them
  8. Get them in the format I needed and size
  9. Edit them
  10. Publish pictures online

Things got easier when I bought my first Digital Camera; a Sony Mavica (see picture above)! All I needed were floppy disks and a computer with the online connection. Now I have a Ricoh CX2  (Affiliate Link)ir?t=cis02-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B002W6Z80W Sharing My Stories as my point and shoot camera with an Eye-Fi Wireless Memory Card (Affiliate Link) that uploads the pictures for me to my computer, iPhone, iPad, and other online repositories.

I had been using creative commons pictures for my blog posts. Thanks to the advice of Sir Alan Weinkrantz I realized that by using the pictures of others, there wasn’t a full connection to the content I was writing. Since April, I have been using more of my pictures for blog posts. Looking back at my albums, I have been able to find many options to choose from.

Video

Video allows you to capture a story and distribute to many. Video platforms like Youtube enable us to upload video in minutes and grant access to a larger audience.

Writing

When I started to share more of my thoughts online, I wrote for other blogs and then decided to set up my own.

Writing in the form of an exercise like Morning Pages can be meditative and helps you organize your thoughts. Writing also helps me find people with common interests. I also write to share my point of view and to learn from you and others that I react by responding or commenting online.

Many think that writing is something that they can’t do. It can be done quite quickly, and with practice, you can get better.

Like my friend Chris Brogan says, “Time is a Choice” he can help you find the time, but it’s your choice.

Are you sharing your story? How?

Updated: 2 Bloggers & 1 Super Bowl Bet #PapaRebelde

February 1, 2012 by Raul Colon

I felt that it was necessary for me to confirm my bet in a video wearing my NY Giants Hoodie which I received as a gift from my parents in the Early 90’s.

If you want to follow along the conversation while I count the days till Julio writes for my blogs feel free to use the #PapaRebelde hashtag.

If you want to learn more about the Bet feel free to jump over to myprevious post (Prediction Giants Win & @julito77 Writes for @Papaheroes #PapaRebelde).

Any topics you would like Julito to cover on Papaheroes after the Giants win?

Prediction Giants Win & @julito77 Writes for @Papaheroes #PapaRebelde

Screen-Shot-2012-01-31-at-11.17.45-PM Prediction Giants Win & @julito77 Writes for @Papaheroes #PapaRebelde

As I have expressed previously on this blog I Love to Gamble. Given that I also become a fan of the New York Giants when they are in the SuperBowl I went ahead and used my passion of Gambling and my love for the Giants in creating a bet with my good friend Julio Varela better known as @julito77 on twitter.

Julio Varela Accepts the Bet

@rj_c @rscspokenword @latinorebels YOU HAVE A BET!!!! #tratohecho start thinking rebelde thoughts, hermanito de mi alma

— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) January 31, 2012

When the Giants Win!

When the New York Giants win Julio will have to write for a full week (5 Posts I will give him the weekend off) for Papaheroes and Veglatino so he better be looking for at least one Vegan Latino recipe to share with us.

If the Patriots Get Lucky

On the other side let’s say the Patriots get Lucky and use their not so ethical practices of sending Spies over to the Giants and win the Game. I will be writing 5 posts for Latino Rebels.

So until SuperBowl Sunday you can stay up to date as Julito gets ready to write even more than he does already for a full week at Papaheroes.com

Here is a video he created and you can follow the action on twitter or Google Plus with Hashtag #PapaRebelde.

So far I have never seen a Game where the Giants are in the Super Bowl and they lose so I appreciate the help Julio will be giving us at Papaheroes.com for a week.

On occasions, the great folks at StudioPress do offer great opportunities to get this package at impressive pricing.

Today they are offering at 10 percent discount before they raise the praise after January 31, 2012.
