My Three Words for 2025

Reflecting and Resetting for the Year Ahead

As the year draws to a close, I find myself pausing to reflect on the challenges, lessons, and moments that have shaped the past twelve months. 2024 has been a year of trials and triumphs, filled with personal growth and unexpected hurdles. Every experience—whether it brought stress or enlightenment—has left its mark, shaping the person I am today and illuminating the path I wish to carve for 2025.

In these final days of the year, I return to a ritual that has become a cornerstone of my personal growth: choosing three words. This practice, both simple and transformative, serves as a grounding force amidst life’s noise. It provides clarity and acts as a compass, guiding my actions and decisions throughout the year. With these words, I strive to capture my reflections and translate them into meaningful guiding principles—anchors to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with intention and purpose.

Let me know if this aligns with your style or if you'd like further refinements!

Why I Choose Three Words Each Year

Every year, I reflect, reset, and refocus by selecting three meaningful words to guide my actions and decisions. This practice, inspired by my friend Chris Brogan, has become a cornerstone of my personal and professional growth.

Why Three Words?
Unlike traditional resolutions, which often fade quickly, my three words serve as a compass throughout the year. They aren’t just goals—they’re deeply connected to my aspirations and values, influencing my daily choices and long-term progress.

How This Practice Works:

  • Focus and Clarity: These words help me navigate life's challenges and opportunities with purpose.
  • Simplicity and Impact: They create habits that enhance my life while eliminating distractions.
  • Daily Integration: I revisit my words regularly, ensuring they shape my actions and keep me aligned with my goals.

Reconnect

Strengthen ties with loved ones, nature, and your passions.

2024 was a year marked by heightened emotions, particularly in Puerto Rico, where hopes for meaningful change faced setbacks. Although the election results didn’t align with the aspirations of many, the momentum toward a better future remains strong, offering hope for what lies ahead.

In the midst of these challenges, I’ve come to understand the profound importance of reconnecting—with people who matter, with shared values, and with a vision for positive change.

This realization struck me during the summer as my business experienced its slowest year in over a decade. I sat down with a community leader and small business owner running for office—a capable, beloved figure focused on critical issues like economic stability, environmental health, and community well-being. Although he wasn’t elected, his dedication to serving our communities remains unwavering, and his words left a lasting impression on me.

He reminded me of the necessity of reconnecting—not only with my audience but also with the people and ideas that inspire and motivate me to keep moving forward.

As I explore new projects beyond web development and SEO consulting, the act of reconnecting becomes even more vital. It’s about more than just rekindling relationships with those I’ve lost touch with amidst life’s busyness; it’s about building new connections that align with my values and aspirations.

I also aim to reconnect with nature and my passion for photography. The challenge lies in weaving these elements into my life in a way that nurtures my creativity, well-being, and relationships.

This year, my primary focus is to reconnect—to rebuild, rekindle, and reinforce the relationships, passions, and values that truly matter.

Empower

Take control of your life and decisions to achieve your vision.

Empowerment begins within. This year, I am committed to building the courage and strength necessary to overcome life’s challenges and take meaningful steps toward achieving my vision.

As a father, I find this goal particularly significant. My daughter’s unique blend of technological knowledge and artistic passion is inspiring, and my mission is to empower her by providing guidance while allowing her creativity to flourish. Striking this delicate balance—between guiding and letting her find her path—will be pivotal in supporting her growth and strengthening my role as a parent.

Empowerment doesn’t stop with family. It extends to uplifting those closest to me, encouraging them to pursue their goals while holding myself accountable for mine. This mutual empowerment creates a ripple effect, fostering a network of support, resilience, and shared progress.

To empower others, I must first empower myself. This means appreciating and fully utilizing the tools and resources at my disposal—whether they’re free, paid, or found within the incredible network of people who are ready to support my goals and projects. By seizing every opportunity and avoiding wasted potential, I can build the foundation necessary for personal and collective growth.

Empowerment is also about perspective—recognizing that taking control of my decisions and actions is the first step toward achieving my vision. It’s about fostering a mindset of gratitude, resourcefulness, and determination.

While “empower” may feel like an overused word, it perfectly encapsulates where I am in my journey. This year, it’s about channeling inner strength, using it to uplift others, and building a future defined by progress, purpose, and unwavering support.

This year, I empower myself to empower others. Together, we rise.

Release

Let go of grief, stress, and distractions that hold you back.

This past year brought many profound and challenging life events. I’ve said goodbye to close friends and family members, and I’ve watched my father courageously battle cancer. Thankfully, he recently completed his last chemotherapy session, and I couldn’t be prouder of his strength.

Through these experiences, I became acutely aware of my susceptibility to panic attacks—one of which temporarily caused muscle spasms that made me lose control of my right arm. It was a stark reminder to prioritize my mental health and lean on the support of my family and partner.

My brother, Javier, always reminds me—often with a laugh—to “let it go,” channeling the famous Disney song. This year, I’m taking that advice to heart. I must release the physical and emotional clutter I’ve accumulated over years of hurricanes, earthquakes, pandemics, and personal struggles.

Letting go doesn’t mean giving up—it means choosing my battles wisely, addressing what truly matters, and releasing tension and negative thoughts that hinder my well-being.

This year, the release will guide me to lightening the load, finding peace, and moving forward with clarity and purpose.

Looking and Moving Forward

2025 unfolds as a blank canvas, ready to be painted with stories of growth, resilience, and discovery. With "Reconnect," "Empower," and "Release" as my guiding words, I step forward into this new chapter with purpose. These words are more than intentions—they are my compass, shaping my actions and enriching my journey.

To you, the reader, as you navigate the opportunities and challenges of this year, I encourage you to choose your own guiding words. Let them bring focus, inspiration, and balance to your path.

Here’s to a year of meaningful reconnections, personal empowerment, and letting go of what no longer serves us. Together, let’s make 2025 a transformative and fulfilling chapter in our lives.
