Balancing Act!

Lately I have been working on many things at the same. I am trying to get a hold of what is most important. Better said, the most important part of my life is my family. I guess when people look for a balance in life, they are usually searching for something that unbalances it. Some people want to enjoy more time off and less work. The problem is that as human beings we are always in search for more of something. If we make more money, we then want even more. If we work 7 days, some of us wish we had 10 days in a week so we could work all 10.

Others would like the week to have 1 day of work and 6 of pleasure. Overall I guess the right balance is inside of us and we can only try to keep at that same level for a certain period of time.

After all the word balance does relate to how an entertainer walks the tight rope. He only does it for a short period of time. If he stayed there for a long period of time like a few hours, days, or weeks he would eventually fall. If we follow his example, for a few minutes he makes sure to put all his concentration into walking the tight rope and nothing else.

Concentrating

Should we focus our concentration on certain periods of the day where we can find balance?

I would say yes. Sometimes when trying to reach that perfect balance, we are trying to keep it for too long. Take steps to put that overall balance in your favor while reaching those goals. In the long run, if we complete one daily goal in order to help us reach our destination, we are more motivated to tackle future goals.

I hear many people that want to be writers and some day write a book.  My advice would be to do the following in order to reach that goal of writing a book:

  • Set up a blog and make sure you write every day.
  • Set a goal of a topic and tackle it. If you are looking for a daily balance this might be the difference between reaching your goal or not even trying.

I use my morning pages to ensure I have enough content on my blog. As a long-term goal, I would love to write a book and I am working towards it every day. I write, I practice, and I know need to get better at my writing.  At the moment, I am finding myself with the hope of reaching that balance in my life even if it is for a few minutes a day.

What are you doing to find balance in your life?

Have you reached a balance that you are comfortable with? If so what things did you do?

What advice can you share with me?

Wow Raul, this was awesome – I really like your in depth posts. You talk the real stuff. I’m sure your book will rock dude. Can’t wait to read it!

In all honesty, I’m a total mess right now in this area! Trying to sort it all out.

You said it, we always want more.

      Ryan,

I guess writing this also helps me focus a bit more. Overall I think we are all a mess. Once we feel we are not that is when we run into trouble.

      Thanks for the support Ryan!
