My Online Brother from Another Mother Is Job Searching
Back in march I wrote “3 People who I Have Shared Great Online Experiences With” and forgot one individual who is one of my online mentors and someone I look forward to meeting in person someday. Ever since I published that post I new I had to make it up to this person and now is the perfect moment because maybe you and I can help him reach another level in his career.
I guess many religions use the word brother when they are talking about people around them or from the church. A few years ago I met a talented and charismatic individual online who caught my attention because he created the #VivaViernes hashtag which is the Spanish Version of #FollowFriday.
Being the online moderator for Puerto RIco of FollowFriday.com ,I used to religiously send #FF’s every friday (it would take me hours). Later on I realize that other people just did it to make others return the #FF and I had to find better use of my time. So now I send #FF to one or two individuals periodically. But when I do I use the #VivaViernes hashtag to complement it.
The first time I saw my online brother from another mother, he was actually thanking me on a video he created (which he created every friday) and mentioning a few people who supported him. The fact that he took the time to say thanks while I was still trying to understand the dynamics of twitter was something that made me feel great.
Since then I have admired @julito77 better known as Julio Varela for being genuine. I have collaborated with @julito77 on various projects online. I really have gotten a lot of value from our conversations. I have to say that @julito77 was the only other contributor on @twitpuerto , an online blog in spanish regarding the use of twitter. Everyone else that was going to collaborate quit on me, but Julito came through.
Julito always has a great sense of humor and is always looking for every opportunity to help out those in need.
One of the most interesting things I found out about Julito on his visualcv.com was that he Shaped and Revised Univision’s Social Media Strategy and Execution Plan.
Please take a look at Julio’s visualcv and feel free to contact @julito77 if there is an opportunity.
It would mean a lot if you could forward his cv to someone that would benefit from @julito77 career achievments. He is definetely an asset to any company hiring him.
¡GRITO!
Raul, what a great post. I’d never heard of the Spanish equivalent of Follow Friday – but it makes a lot of sense. I wonder if other countries / languages do this too?
I like the idea of the video thanking people, that’s a really nice touch.
It’s good that you have such a good mentor in Julio.
There are various spanish equivalents. If you go into Followfriday.com I think they have them posted. That ranking also counts those variations.
Thanks again for stopping by the blog.
I “met” Julio online too! And admire his philosophy.
That is great I have yet to meet him in Person.. But as you can see I am a big fan thanks for stopping by!
