@Meet_Meme Fun Business Cards and/or Personal Branding Tools
I am not a big fan of exchanging business cards since most of them end up in a trash can or in someone’s desk collecting dust. One of the things that was very difficult for me while attending SXSW was making sure I kept track of all the people I was meeting.
There are a few apps that can help with keeping track of who you meet but it sometimes can break up the flow of a conversation. While you are grabbing your phone, getting your phone ready, logging into the application, searching for the area to add the person, requesting their contact info, and finally entering them into the application. When you have precious seconds to invest in knowing a bit more about what the person you just met is all about this can be very detrimental to keeping the conversation going.
Being able to meet @houseofbrew at SXSW was a great opportunity to finally find a solution to this challenge. What a more perfect place than SXSW where you meet so many people in such a short period of time for him to be handing out a very practical and fun contact card by the name of Meet-Meme (affiliate),
Meet-Meme as stated in their website “helps you bring online persona to the offline world, allowing you to further your networking efforts with an engaging extension of your personal brand.”
I was handed my first Meet-Meme card by @houseofbrew and he ran me through how useful this card was in connecting offline with online. If you see below it includes his Name, email, blog url, company website, and the most interesting part of the trading card the QR code that connects you from offline card to online profiles.

I really think that what I have seen these cards do really helps in the process of connecting and cutting all the hassle of hunting down people on multiple networks. I see many business uses for these cards and will probably be sharing a few with you on future posts.
Can you see how to implement this to an event or to extend your personal branding? In the mean time I will be working on updating my avatar and getting a good pic to order my first batch.
Nice! Meet-Meme cards always get a great response; deservedly so! Love mine! Way to go, Jonathan!
I think it is a great product backed by an awesome and passionate team. Thanks for reading the post and commenting.
This is a very innovative concept. QR codes are becoming quite the convenience for one’s self-promotion through networking. I’ll try this out.
Frankie,
The team behind it is awesome and they have a great product with infinite ways of approaching it. Thanks for reading!
Nice post, Raúl! Meet-Meme cards always get a great response; deservedly so! Love mine! Way to go, Jonathan!
Thanks again I do agree Jonathan and his team have created and awesome tool
I just found another useful tool. Thanks for the information.
I guess the functionality of this highly depends on the people you will be interacting with. While all of the people whom you met at SXSW or have commented here, know what QR codes are and how to use them, out in the real world, many whom I’ve encountered do not know what this technology is.
An old fashioned business card gets the job done better in this situation. The person will probably enter the info on their mobile/computer/digital rolodex and throw away the paper reminder of a long gone era of paper cards later. But until most people know the what/when/what of QR codes, it remains an intriguing object to be wondered at by ignorant eyes.
When the time comes where QR Codes are widely known, I’ll consider printing one on a square card and handing those out. Unless… we do a dual sided card with traditional info on one side, and the QR code on the other. In which case, I hear a” “I told you so…” coming real soon. (Inside joke).
Rick,
The real value in these cards is the interaction and things you can do around them even without the QR Code.
Sadly in Puerto Rico we are always behind like my grandpa would say “Como los Huevos del Perro” and always waiting for others to do something before we implement it. How are we going to educate our environment if no one gives it a try.
These cards have also a link to the persons online profile. Most business cards don’t do the job because people care about people not their contact info, company they work for, or products they serve. These cards allow you to learn about the person and establish a relationship before anything else.
Maybe we can have a chat online on the many uses they can have. We need to step it up and start implementing new things even before others understand it. It is the only way to help those others who resist in trying something new.
So when you say Old Fashion business cards get the job done I clearly believe the are overrated and in most occasions are left to decay in a box, desk or other strange places.
“… in most occasions are left to decay in a box, desk or other strange places.”
Possible strange places: On a ham sandwich? The toilet? As a tissue paper when cold season arrives?
I have to concur that we need to educate people, that is why I knew this: I told you so* was coming. Although at first, people might prefer you telling them your info instead of scanning a card.
Anyways, I must admit that the type of immediate connection with one’s online profiles comes in handy. Especially if you want to see how the person carries him/herself online (attitude). It could help as a kind of Background check.
*Raúl wanted a QR code on his business card, and I suggested otherwise. I now publicly offer to review his design so that we include that darn code. Free of charge.
As always, ¡good post, mafrén!
Rick,
I have to agree with you when we made my business cards I could not find a practical way to use them so I agreed with you and still agree with you. Everyone really enjoyed the both Logo’s but they really enjoyed your creation on the logo of my blog. 9 out of 10 times I handed one out I got a compliment on the Logo which I forgot to forward given the many times it happened.
Maybe for the next one we can look for a way to implement my meme cards with my business card.
Thanks for reading and bringing a different perspective on the conversation.
agreed!

by the way I did not get the I told you so joke until now. Keep in mind that we both agreed. Everything is a learning process thanks to Jonathan, Andy, and Andy we have seen a practical way into implementing a QR Code into a business card. Thanks again mafrén.

Hey! I had never seen this type of business cards! I was most impressed with the QR thing, the link they provide to the online side. I am not the most tech person, but I try to do the best with @PayasaAgapita and her online presence.
On the other side I am the WORST offline marketer. I give bcards when I remember I have the cards with me… but my interest is to direct my efforts to the web site.
For sure I will try these meme cards. Thank you!
